Happy New Year- *2010* good things to come, I'm sure of it!
Tonight it is much easier to curl up in my bed and relax. Phil is back "home" ---not really home at all--- but "home" base; Balad. Not that I like him being deployed at all, but I don't mind it when I know he is 'safe' and not traveling around the crazy country of Iraq. He went on a mission yesterday and got back today. I was nervous----scared---- the whole time. It took me forever to fall asleep last night. I'm pretty spoiled about falling asleep with him on Skype every night, so it's difficult when he's not there.
This morning, I was nervous too. Again, I'm spoiled because he calls and talks to me while I drive to work. No -Good Morning Sunsine- conversation for us today. It was difficult. Some days are easier than others. Today was not a day that I would classify as easy. I pray every night for his safety... I pray even harder when he's on a mission or away from Balad.
I recieved an email from him this afternoon while I was at work - he let me know that he was back and everything went well. At that very moment, I could breathe again.
It's not easy loving a soldier's job----it takes a lot of patience, however it is easy to love a soldier .... his integrity, honor, dedication, committment, and his love of country is pretty remarkable.
A few random thoughts:
I'm celebrating two things tonight-
1. Phil is safe
2. Tessa bought a new laptop... which means she is now able to Skype with me!
I must say that I am inspired by many things. Tess was my inspriration for updating my blog. Finally. Her request was simple. "Heather, could you update your blog please?"
Isn't it ironic that the two people who mean the most to me are long distance loves? Phil, obviously, in Iraq... and Tessa in Cornelius, North Carolina.
Ah, my favorite number just appeared on my cell phone. Phil is calling. Goodnight!
